Systemic Supervision in Berlin... this is how it goes!

"The cry for professional satisfaction and optimization is so outrageous.... just do it!"

Do you want to question and reflect on yourself in your professional context and constantly improve and develop? Do you want to benefit from the experience of others and gain new ideas? Is it important to you to recognize why you sometimes get stuck?

This is exactly what systemic supervision is good for and exactly what it can do.

Supervision can be both individual and group-based. Ultimately, supervision serves the purpose of self-reflection in a professional context.

3 reasons for systemic supervision with me:

1. continuous development (of your professionalism through new perspectives)

2. relief (for difficult situations in everyday life)

3. promotion of exchange, innovation and creativity

Good supervision is characterized by the fact that the supervision itself is always discussed. Examining the consulting situation itself is a quality criterion for systemic consulting.

General information about supervision

What is supervision good for?

A team discusses critical issues of cooperation.
Supervision in a team: critical topics are dealt with

(Systemic) supervision serves in the broadest sense to reflect on professional practice. Similar to coaching supervision can also take place in different settings (individual and group setting). The supervision group can consist of members who come together specifically for this purpose or of a team that exists as such in an organization.

Originally supervision was intended for people in social professions to discuss their (individual) cases and take care of their mental hygiene. The above examples show that the concept of supervision has become broader and is used more and more in an economic context (e. g. management supervision, team supervision, organizational supervision).

Traffic safety due to supervision in Berlin

If you are looking for supervision in Berlin, or if you already use supervision, you know that the market and the offers are very comprehensive. In the following I would like to give you some ideas to check if you have already found the right offer for you.  Dr. Bernd Schumacher has created the so-called supervision TÜV especially for this purpose.

"The following are some extracts that you can use as a checklist in your search for supervision in Berlin."

The supervision as such

  • Is there a working atmosphere during your supervision (as opposed to a coffee-table atmosphere)?
  • Has the supervision itself been made a topic of discussion in the supervision?
  • Do you feel invited to criticise your supervisor or tell him/her that you experience supervision as ineffective?
  • Does the supervisor clearly distinguish between team and case supervision?
  • Does the supervision work in a demand-oriented way (appointment if necessary vs. regular intervals)

Technical and content competence of the supervisor

  • In your opinion, does your supervisor have sufficient competence for your area of responsibility (e.g. psychiatry, addiction)?
  • Do you think that your own professional competence and that of your colleagues is sufficiently appreciated or even extended in supervision?
  • After supervision, do you know what you can try out or what you should leave alone?
  • If you are not (yet) satisfied immediately after supervision, is your supervisor able to spend more attention to your needs?

Systemic aspects of supervision

  • Do you consider the supervisor in team supervision to be neutral?
  • Does your supervisor address and take into account the structural conditions of your institution?
  • Does the supervisor in case supervision always ask clearly about your tasks or your aim of supervision?
  • Does your supervisor ask you during or after supervision whether and to what extent your assignment has been fulfilled?

Subjective perception of the clients

  • Do you feel that your supervisor has a certain sense of humour?
  • Are you involved with your own verbal contributions or thoughts when cases of your colleagues are supervised?
  • After supervision, do you feel motivated to tackle the case in question?
  • Are you looking forward to the next supervision appointment or do you feel this is an additional workload?

If you should fall back on me as your supervisor in Berlin when choosing your supervision, these questions will always play a role. If you look at the basic attitudes of systemic counseling, you will find that these are reflected in the questions above.

"You are welcome to subject me to the above check and see if I am sufficiently roadworthy for supervision in Berlin."
